About Event

How many jobs related to trees and forests do you know?
There are various woodworking jobs such as tree growing, cutting, and assembling, and many skilled workers are involved in the process of transforming wood into furniture and interior goods.
The event offers a variety of fun and educational programs, including woodworking workshops, log cutting, and performances of chainsaws and other machines used in the forest. Both children and adults will be thrilled to discover the unknown world of wood and forest work!

Logs are processed into usable shapes according to their use.

Work of Assembling Wooden Pieces

Prepared wooden pieces are assembled. In Japan, the traditional technique of assembling wooden pieces is used for buildings and furniture. Let's try assembling them and experience how they work and how strong they are!

Through various processes such as cutting, trimming, bending, and painting, familiar wooden products, such as furniture, are created. Let's create your own work of art by acting like a craftsman.

We asked the people who grow and cut down trees in the mountains, those who saw the logs into lumber, and those who make wooden buildings and furniture, about their respective jobs and their thoughts on wood.
Furthermore, the way to handle trees differs depending on whether they are conifers such as cedar or hardwoods such as zelkova. Try to find out the differences.

Bundle dyeing is the process of scattering plant materials on a fabric and steaming them to dye it.
Imagine what colors the barks, leaves, petals, nuts, and other plants of various colors and shapes will turn into, and try making your own original drawstring bag.

About 15 minutes

Clean logs with bark removed are brought from the forests of Tokyo!
Select a log size you want, and then, a forestry worker cuts the log using a chainsaw right in front of you!
You can use the cut log in various ways depending on the thickness, such as a pot stand, a display, a log stool, and so on!
